Santa Clara County Taxpayers Encouraged to File Refund Claim

Press Release - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 1, 2023

San Jose, Calif., April 1, 2023 – The Santa Clara County Taxpayers Association (SCTTA) is urging all taxpayers in the county to file a refund claim for unclaimed tax refunds.

The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) recently announced that it will be issuing over 23,000 unclaimed tax refund checks totaling $455,000 to Santa Clara County taxpayers. These refunds are for tax years 2018 through 2022.

To be eligible for a refund, taxpayers must have filed a tax return for the applicable tax year and have an overpayment on their taxes. The FTB will automatically issue a refund check to taxpayers who meet these requirements. However, taxpayers who have moved or changed their address since filing their tax return must file a refund claim to receive their refund.

Taxpayers can file a refund claim by completing and submitting Form FTB 3516, Claim for Refund. The form is available on the FTB website at https://www.ftb.ca.gov. Taxpayers can also file a refund claim by calling the FTB at 1-800-852-5711.

The deadline to file a refund claim is April 15, 2026. Taxpayers are encouraged to file their claim as soon as possible to avoid missing out on their refund.

For more information, taxpayers can visit the FTB website at https://www.ftb.ca.gov or call the FTB at 1-800-852-5711.

Conclusion

The SCTTA encourages all taxpayers in Santa Clara County to file a refund claim if they believe they are eligible for a refund. This is a great opportunity to recover some of your hard-earned money.
